The Ministry of Home Affairs asks local governments to expedite the confirmation of village boundaries.

The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Tomsi Tohir asked regional governments (pemda) to expedite the confirmation of village boundaries.

While opening the Socialization and Technical Coordination Meeting of the Integrated Land Administration and Spatial Planning Project (ILASPP) for Village Boundary Confirmation with Regional Governments in 2025 in Jakarta, Friday, he said that the acceleration could at least be carried out in villages that do not have administrative disputes.

"We truly hope there will be efforts to expedite, and overachieve , village boundaries. At the very least, the administration of those that aren't in dispute can be expedited," said Tomsi, as quoted in a written statement.

He stated that confirming village boundaries is crucial, given that several boundary issues have resulted in physical conflict. Therefore, confirming village boundaries can minimize the potential for conflict on the ground.

In addition, he continued, the confirmation of village boundaries also affects the amount of village funds, Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR), and existing resources.

"It is an obligation to be able to exceed the target," he said.

He stated that by definition, a village is a legal community unit that has territorial boundaries.

In order to provide clarity on the status and legal certainty of village areas, he said, villages must have definitive village boundaries.

Considering the urgency of resolving village boundaries in various aspects, it is said that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the central and regional governments to accelerate the resolution of village boundaries.

This is as mandated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 21 of 2023 concerning Amendments to Presidential Regulation Number 9 of 2016 concerning the Acceleration of the Implementation of the One Map Policy at a Map Accuracy Level of 1:50,000 Scale.

"Presidential Decree Number 21 of 2023 mandates the Ministry of Home Affairs to carry out several tasks, one of which is to act as the data custodian for village administrative boundary maps," said Tomsi.

Tomsi stated that by the end of September 2025, 10,909 (14.4 percent) of the 75,266 villages had reported the confirmation of their village boundaries to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
