Australian triathlon legend Chris “Macca” McCormack shared his experiences and insights on the importance of consistency, mental toughness, and a competitive mindset during the 2026 myBCA Belitung Multisport Festival, which will take place in Belitung on April 25–26, 2026.
In an official statement on Friday, the four-time Ironman world champion provided insights to participants and the multisport community in Indonesia.
"Mindset is key when athletes face nervousness. We're nervous because we've invested so much time and energy into achieving a goal. Just believe in yourself and enjoy the race," said McCormack.
He emphasized that nervousness is common among athletes, but it can be overcome with confidence and focus on the process. Beyond mental toughness, McCormack emphasized the importance of consistency in training.
"One lesson I've learned in over 30 years of racing is that consistency trumps everything. Many are great in one session, but without consistency, there are no results," he added.
On that occasion, McCormack also explained the reasons for choosing Belitung as the host of the multisport event.
According to him, the island, which has UNESCO Global Geopark status, offers the ideal track quality and natural conditions for triathlon.
"The opportunity to swim in crystal-clear waters is very appealing to us. Triathlons also require good road access, and Belitung has that. This is the perfect location," he said.
myBCA Belitung Multisport Festival 2026 presents various categories for participants of various ages and ability levels, ranging from standard distance triathlon, 2 km Open Water Swim, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, to family-friendly categories such as Pho3nix Kids Run and Fun Run.
"This activity is a form of commitment to encourage the community to be more active and raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle for a better quality of life," said Executive Vice President of Transaction Banking Business Development BCA Norisa.
