The chairman of the Indonesian National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji, revealed the reason why his agency did not reveal the names of the coaches who are candidates to fill the position of the new head coach of the Indonesian national team.
In a press conference at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, Thursday, Sumardji said the first factor was that his party respected the privacy of the five coaches.
"Regarding these five names, we haven't revealed them yet, and we won't reveal them yet. We respect that, because each head coach has their own privacy," said Sumardji.
For the second reason, Sumardji said that of "these coaches", they are still bound by contracts with the clubs and national teams they currently coach.
"Secondly, these coaches are still at their clubs and national teams, so there's no way we'll open them," he said.
On the same occasion, he also didn't specify when the new coach would be announced. He only said that, along with Technical Director Alexander Zwiers, they would conduct interviews to explore the vision and mission of the five candidates, which would take place "probably in the coming weeks."
"Then, regarding these five coaches, we, Coach Alexander, together with the appointed Exco, one of whom might be asked to conduct an interview, and we will do so, perhaps in the next few weeks," he said.
As stated by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of PSSI Yunus Nusi on the same occasion, he hopes that from these five candidates his party will find the best name who can bring success to the Garuda team in the future.
"Hopefully, these five names will not face any problems. Perhaps among the five we chose, there might be a problem, but we don't know," said Sumardji, who is also the manager of the Indonesian national team.
"Yes, once again, we ask everyone to be patient, because we want to find a coach who matches the character of our players and can lead our national team to success in the future," he said.
