227 surfers participated in Senggigi Surfing 2025 in Lombok

  A total of 227 surfers participated in the Senggigi Open Surfing at Senggigi Beach, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara on December 12-14, 2025.

"Participants came from regions with strong surfing traditions such as Aceh, Mentawai, Java, and Bali, in fact half of the total participants were from Bali, demonstrating the strong enthusiasm of the Indonesian surfing community for this event," said Head of Destination Development at the NTB Tourism Office and also the Advisory Board of the NTB PSOI, Candra Aprinova, in Senggigi, Friday.

Candra emphasized that this activity is also a form of strengthening sports tourism in NTB, where Senggigi is known as one of the leading destinations that has become a national tourist magnet.

He hopes this activity will become an annual event that will grow bigger and have a direct impact on tourism and the local economy.

The Deputy for Event Organizer Development at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Vinsensius Jemadu, said this activity has strategic value for NTB and national tourism.

"This event coincides with the celebration of NTB's 67th anniversary and serves as a moment to express appreciation to all parties involved in organizing thousands of tourism activities in Indonesia every year," he said.

Vinsensius emphasized that NTB has a "complete package" as an event destination, with a variety of activities spanning air, sea, and land.

He conveyed the Minister of Tourism's message that NTB should be a good host because the friendliness and support of the community can have an extraordinary impact on tourism growth.

NTB Deputy Governor Indah Dhamayanti Putri expressed her appreciation for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's support and emphasized that Senggigi is a long-standing international destination, with surfing a key attraction for international tourists

"Besides Senggigi, NTB has many surf spots popular with international surfers, so the potential for developing sports tourism is still very large," he said.

He emphasized that the NTB Provincial Government hopes this event will strengthen Senggigi's position as a leading surfing location and encourage the birth of more talented young surfers from NTB who will compete at the national and international levels.

"We hope this event will continue to grow and become an annual event that will significantly increase tourist visits," he said.
