PSSI Deputy Chairman 1 Zainudin Amali revealed that the process of selecting a new coach for the Indonesian national team has been completely completed and only needs to be announced to the public.
"So, we have all completed the process," said Amali after watching the continuation of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League match between Persija Jakarta and Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
He added that PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir "did not interfere" during the selection of the new coach. He stated that the PSSI chairman entrusted the selection process entirely to the Executive Board (Exco) and the National Team Body.
Some time ago, one of the members of the PSSI Exco, Endri Erawan, said that he and several colleagues at the PSSI Exco, such as Muhammad and Technical Director Alexander Zwiers and Technical Advisor Jordi Cruyff, conducted interviews in Europe with candidates for the Garuda team coach.
"This is good, yes, through an Exco meeting, and the Chairman didn't interfere. So, the Chairman let us discuss with BTN, then with those assigned by Mr. Muhammad and Mr. Endri," said Amali.
"We're like that, and when decisions are made, the General Chairperson will lead the meeting. So, it's up to the board. So, the Exco has the freedom to express their views on the coach. I think this is a very good thing," he added.
Although everything has been finalized, Amali has yet to reveal when Patrick Kluivert's replacement will be announced. "We've handed it over to Mr. Mardji to finalize it, and then the General Chair will announce it," he said.
