Telkomsel won the Silver Award at the 2025 World Communication Awards (WCA) in London, England, in the Beyond Connectivity Award category, for its use of MSIGHT and tSurvey data-based solutions to support tourism development in West Sumatra Province.
Telkomsel's Vice President of Data Solutions and Digital Financial Services, Alfian Manullang, stated in a statement on Tuesday that data utilization is part of Telkomsel's efforts to create added value from the company's digital capabilities.
"Through Telkomsel Enterprise, we implemented MSIGHT and tSurvey with the West Sumatra Provincial Government to uncover visitor visit patterns and movement flows, while accelerating digital transformation and increasing productivity across sectors," said Alfian.
The award, announced on December 9, 2025, was given after hundreds of independent judges assessed the innovation and impact of Telkomsel's initiative in processing tourist mobility data to support public policymaking and the digital transformation of the tourism sector.
Through a collaboration with the West Sumatra Provincial Government, Telkomsel is leveraging mobility insights and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based survey platform to more accurately map tourist visitation patterns, movement flows, and travel destinations. This data is used to inform campaign planning and tourism destination management.
This data-driven strategy is said to be capable of increasing the operational efficiency of tourism campaigns by up to 40 percent and driving a 30 percent increase in tourist visits. Throughout 2024, West Sumatra recorded 19.14 million tourist visits.
