The founder of the DBL inter-school basketball competition, Azrul Ananda, is pleased to see two ministries, namely the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), discussing further the implementation of student-athlete .Azrul, who has been involved in the grassroots world of youth basketball for the past 20 years, is very open to discussions about student-athletes, which he hopes will create a much healthier ecosystem for students who want to pursue careers as athletes.
"I'm very happy today because for the first time, there's been a direct discussion and debate between the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports," Azrul said after speaking on a panel at the 2025 Indonesia Sports Summit at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Sunday.
"Because my passion in life is being a student-athlete, I want to show that a child can balance their athletic talent with prioritizing and balancing their academics," he added.
