Bogor Hornbills basketball player Daniel Timothy Wenas said that Christmas 2025 is a moment to pause and be grateful for life's achievements, before returning to focus on preparing for the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL)."In the midst of training and preparing for competition, Christmas is a time to pause, gather with family, and express gratitude," Daniel said on the IBL website on Friday.
According to him, the Christmas holiday period for IBL 2026 participants will be short as preparations for the competition begin on January 10.
All clubs are still undergoing training programs because the competition next season is predicted to be even tighter, including the Hornbills.
Wenas continued, saying that he also felt this situation amidst a busy schedule and still having to carry out training agendas during the Christmas atmosphere.
For the senior basketball player, the professional demands of being an athlete mean that vacation time must be adjusted to suit the interests of the competition.
Daniel believes he hasn't been able to fully enjoy Christmas this year like most people. However, he still views the occasion as an opportunity to recharge before facing the new season.
Because, a busy training schedule is a consequence that all professional players must accept, especially when the league starts shortly after a religious holiday.
The Jakarta-based player added that he still strives to spend time with his family and carry out religious duties amidst the team's busy schedule.
"The Christmas service was slightly disrupted, but that's a consequence for all athletes. The most important thing is to still make time for family and worship, while also recharging for preparation for the 2026 IBL," said the player who wears the number seven jersey.
