Diabetes specialists remind patients taking medication for chronic diseases to do so long-term and not to stop even if their metabolic condition gradually improves.
As reported by the Hindustan Times on Wednesday, Dr. Brijmohan Arora, who practices in Dwarka, New Delhi, said that there is still a dangerous misconception among patients who treat metabolic diseases as temporary acute illnesses because drugs relieve symptoms and can be stopped at any time.
"Often, patients take medication and feel like their diabetes and high blood pressure are experiencing a fever, and when they're a little under control, they stop taking the medication. This mistake should not be made," he said in a video post.
