FFI will maximize FMD in 2026, potentially inviting Spain
The Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI) will maximize the matches included in the FIFA Match Day (FMD) calendar in 2026.

FFI Chairman Michael Sianipar said that Indonesia is also not ruling out the possibility of bringing in strong countries such as Spain and Portugal in friendly matches.

Michael revealed that he had been in communication with the Spanish and Portuguese futsal federations in the past few weeks regarding the possibility of holding a friendly match.

"We at the federation have plans to maximize the use of FMD in 2026. It might not be fully implemented yet, but I actually went to Spain and Portugal a few weeks ago and started communicating that strong European countries, and even strong clubs, would be coming to Indonesia," Michael said at a press conference.

However, Michael still cannot reveal the time of the trial match because communication between the two parties has not reached a final agreement.

"But we can't yet announce the dates for which countries or futsal clubs because it's not final yet," said Michael.

After winning the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian men's national team is now preparing for the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup, which will take place from January 27 to February 7.

Host Indonesia, who are in Group A, will compete against Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and South Korea.

Later, the two teams that occupy the top positions in each group will qualify for the knockout stage, namely starting from the quarter-finals.
