For decades, scientists have focused their studies on the internal content of eggs for their nutritional value, but the scientific paradox is that the greatest benefit may be hidden in the inner membrane of the eggshell

In an unexpected scientific turn, a recent study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology reveals a true nutritional treasure in that transparent membrane that separates the shell from the egg white.

The study, which included participants aged 35 to 65, showed that taking 450 mg daily of a hydrolyzed eggshell membrane supplement for three months led to significant improvements in skin and hair quality. Researchers observed a marked reduction in crow's feet (wrinkles around the eyes) in just four weeks, while skin tone and texture improved after eight weeks of regular use.

The positive results were not limited to the skin, but extended to the hair as well, as participants recorded an increase in hair density and strength, with a noticeable decrease in the rate of breakage and an improvement in its growth.

Scientists attribute these dual effects to the unique composition of the eggshell membrane, which contains three essential substances that work in harmony: hyaluronic acid, which maintains skin hydration and elasticity; keratin, which forms the basic structure of hair, skin, and nails; and a group of amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins.

As we age, the body requires additional support, as its natural ability to produce these essential elements declines, leading to signs of aging such as wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and thinning hair. This makes the findings of this study highly significant for many. Furthermore, the benefits of eggshell membranes extend beyond aesthetics to include general health. Previous studies (including research from 2009) have indicated their ability to alleviate joint pain and improve mobility, particularly for those with arthritis, in addition to their potential role in promoting bone health and reducing the risk of age-related fractures.

This scientific discovery opens new horizons in the field of nutritional supplements and natural beauty, emphasizing that some of the best beauty care solutions may come from simple sources available in our kitchens, although they need careful scientific processing to extract their full benefits.
