Former Indonesian national team player from Jayapura, Papua, Oktovianus Maniani, condemned the racist actions against Malut United winger Yakob Sayuri during a match against Persita on November 23, 2025.

"I, Okto Maniani, condemn all forms of racism and hope the federation, PSSI, will take firm action," he said in a 15-minute video posted on social media on Tuesday.

Okto hopes that PSSI will be firm in handling cases of racism in national football.

Okto emphasized that discriminatory actions cannot be tolerated in the slightest, especially in sports which should uphold sportsmanship and unity

Racism against Yakob Sayuri occurred when Malut United faced Persita at the Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang Regency, Sunday (23/11).

This racist abuse came into the public spotlight after circulating widely on social media.

Oktovianus, who shone with Indonesia at the 2010 AFF Cup, questioned the fact that the intense anti-racism campaign was not followed by concrete action.
