The Great Indonesian Youth Front (FPIR) appreciates the Indonesian National Police (Polri) for its commitment to supporting public information disclosure as stipulated in Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure.
FPIR Chairman Fauzan Ohorella believes that public information transparency is an important part and pillar of strengthening democracy, as well as a strategic step in building public trust in the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
"We believe this is a concrete manifestation of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo's commitment to reforming the police force and strengthening democracy, by ensuring that the police institution continues to make improvements and refinements in its service to the public," Fauzan said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
FPIR also appreciates the National Police Chief's commitment to not only emphasizing transparency but also consistently carrying out continuous improvement.
It is said that this is in line with public expectations for a more open, modern and responsive police institution.
Fauzan emphasized that his party will continue to support various steps taken by the National Police to strengthen public services and ensure the public has access to clear, open information that complies with laws and regulations.
He believes that the recent audience between the Public Information Commission (KIP) and the National Police (Polri) was a form of the National Police Chief's commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in providing information to the public.
The National Police Chief's statement during the audience, he said, emphasized that the National Police respects the authority of the KIP as an official institution in resolving public information disputes.
"This is proof that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) continues to move towards a more open, professional, and accountable public service," he said.
Previously, the National Police Chief's audience with the Central KIP in Jakarta, Thursday (4/12), confirmed that the KIP is an institution mandated by law to organize, supervise, and serve the resolution of disputes related to the openness of public information.
The Chief of Police also stated that the Police are always open and continue to improve their information services to the public.
