This came during her speech on Tuesday at the event “Witnesses to Genocide: Media and Resistance in Gaza”, which was hosted by the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Directorate.
Erdogan said the event provided an opportunity to come together for Palestine, noting that Palestinian journalists and correspondents were hosted, along with Palestinian director Basel Adra.
She pointed out that Israel “killed about 300 journalists, including 37 women, in two years,” and praised the Palestinian female journalists, explaining that they “documented serious crimes against humanity in Gaza and conveyed the truth through the eyes of women.”
She stressed that the genocide that the world has been witnessing live for the past two years is not new and is not limited to Gaza, but extends to all Palestinian territories for nearly a century
The wife of the Turkish president stressed that remembering what is happening is a form of resistance, saying: “We are here today so that we do not forget, and to talk about what we have witnessed, because remembering is the greatest resistance.”
She added that Israel tried to prevent the truth from reaching the world by targeting journalists and media outlets, and by hiding the truth through media disinformation.
She explained that media misinformation can turn massacres into justifiable acts in the eyes of the public, criticizing some Western media outlets that manipulate the narrative.
The First Lady of Turkey affirmed that her country would be among the strongest defenders of the cause for which Palestinians have sacrificed their lives. She emphasized that "raising the voice of truth on every continent, and ensuring that no language remains untouched by its translation," is a shared responsibility, asserting that confronting injustice, lies, discrimination, and genocide is "the most legitimate of wars."
She concluded by affirming her belief that “the darkness of Gaza will turn into light through the resistance of all humanity,” remembering “the martyrs of Palestine with mercy.”
