Raids and arrests: The occupation army continues its violations in the West Bank amid reports of the reopening of the King Hussein Bridge.

Israeli forces demolished three Palestinian homes in the village of Khallat al-Farra, near the town of Yatta, south of Hebron, according to local activists.

Palestinian activist Khaled Al-Qaimari said that "the occupation forces, accompanied by demolition machinery, proceeded to demolish three inhabited houses despite objections being submitted to the occupation court following previous demolition notices on the pretext of building without a permit."

Al-Qaimari added that the communities of Yatta and Masafer Yatta are subjected to a policy of "systematic siege and demolition," in addition to continuous attacks by settlers that include burning homes, damaging property and crops, and stealing land and livestock under the protection of army forces.

University raid

In a related context, Israeli occupation forces stormed the campus of Birzeit University, north of Ramallah in the West Bank, at dawn on Tuesday, and detained a number of its guards, amid a widespread deployment of soldiers inside its buildings.

Local sources said that a large force of the Israeli army stormed the campus of Birzeit University at 4:00 AM, and detained 5 members of the university's security staff after confiscating their mobile phones.

She stated that the Israeli occupation army forces completely closed the three main gates of the university, and the sources added that the forces were deployed inside a number of colleges and buildings, and carried out search operations.

For its part, the university administration announced the postponement of academic and administrative work for students and employees.

In this context, Israeli occupation forces arrested 6 young men during a large-scale raid on the neighboring town of Birzeit.

Injuries

Two Palestinians, one of them a child, were wounded by Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday during a raid on the al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, in the central West Bank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews "are dealing with a young man who was shot in the thigh with live ammunition during a raid on the al-Amari camp," and added that it is working to transfer the injured young man to the hospital for treatment.

In a separate statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent said: "A second child, aged 13, was shot in the thigh with live ammunition in the Al-Amari camp in Al-Bireh and is being transferred to the hospital.

In a related development, the Palestinian Prisoners Club stated on Tuesday that Israeli occupation forces had arrested at least 40 Palestinians since Monday evening.

The club explained in a statement that the Israeli occupation army forces continued to carry out widespread arrest operations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, as part of what it described as "comprehensive aggression and systematic collective revenge operations" against the Palestinians.

He explained that most of the arrests were concentrated in the governorates of Hebron and Bethlehem (south), and Nablus (north), while the rest were distributed among Ramallah (central), Jenin, Salfit and Qalqilya (north).

He added that the Israeli occupation army forces also carried out field investigations in several towns, and detained dozens of young men, amid what he described as "widespread acts of reprisal".

The club noted that the number of arrests in the West Bank has reached about 21,000 Palestinians since the outbreak of the Israeli war of extermination on Gaza in October 2023.

King Hussein Bridge

On the other hand, Israeli sources announced the reopening of the King Hussein Bridge on the Jordanian-Palestinian border on Wednesday, for the passage of goods to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, after a closure that lasted for about 3 months.

Tel Aviv closed the bridge to goods traffic on September 23, following a shooting that killed two Israeli soldiers.

An Israeli security source said in a statement carried by Hebrew media outlets, including the official broadcasting authority: "During recent weeks, the necessary security adjustments were made at the Allenby Bridge (King Hussein Bridge) crossing on both the Israeli and Jordanian sides."

The source, who did not name him, added: “Inspection and security assessment procedures for Jordanian drivers and the contents of trucks have been tightened, and specialized security forces have been assigned to secure the crossing.”

He continued: “Accordingly, and in implementation of the agreements and directives of the political leadership, starting tomorrow (Wednesday), goods and aid will be allowed to be transferred from Jordan to the Judea and Samaria area (West Bank) and the Gaza Strip via the Allenby Bridge crossing.”

The West Bank is witnessing an unprecedented escalation in attacks by the Israeli occupation army and settlers, coinciding with two years of the Israeli war of extermination in Gaza.

The attacks targeted Palestinians, their property and livelihoods, resulting in the martyrdom of 1,092 Palestinians, in addition to about 11,000 wounded and more than 21,000 arrests, according to official data.
