Giannis Antetokounmpo undergoes MRI after right calf injury against Pistons

Milwaukee Bucks basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo underwent an MRI examination after suffering a right calf injury in the first quarter of the 2025-2026 NBA game against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday.

On the NBA website, Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers said that the medical team had confirmed that the injury suffered by the megastar was not an Achilles tendon .

"I think the impact threw him off balance," Rivers said.

Antetokounmpo suffered the injury after slipping in the paint shortly after assisting AJ Green. He held his right leg and limped to the locker room before being declared unable to continue.

Rivers explained that the incident likely stemmed from contact with an opposing player, as Antetokounmpo drove down the baseline before releasing the pass.
