Jonatan Christie wants to have a special academy for singles players

Jonatan Christie wants to have a special academy for singles players  Indonesian men's singles badminton athlete Jonatan Christie expressed his desire to build a badminton academy specifically for developing singles players, as part of his plans after retiring from active competition.

Jonatan said that he had been thinking about the idea for a long time, inspired by the academy model owned by badminton player Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, which is considered to have a complete coaching system and facilities.

"Yes, that's one of my dreams. I mean, one of my dreams: to have a proper academy like Gideon. I mean, the athletes have dormitories, and the athletes actually have coaches, special coaches," said Jonatan at Daddies Arena in South Tangerang on Thursday.

He explained that the academy he envisioned would focus on the singles sector, in line with his background as a men's singles player.

Jonatan also hopes that the facility can be built near his residence so that he can be directly involved in the coaching process.

"If possible, find a location near your house so you can participate directly. Because if it's far away, sometimes it's a shame not to participate. Some are already there, just putting their name on the list, but not actually participating. I mean, it's a shame for the academy," Jonatan said.
