ISS initiates national solidarity to help disaster victims in Sumatra

The Indonesia Sports Summit (ISS), as the largest sports industry forum in Indonesia, has been moved to take part in helping communities affected by flash floods and landslides in several areas on Sumatra Island to recover quickly.

ISS, along with the donation platform Kitabisa.com, initiated a national solidarity movement titled ISSForSumatra-Kitabisa. As a collaborative platform across the sports ecosystem, ISS believes that the values of sportsmanship, empathy, and mutual cooperation extend beyond the playing field.

"The President and the ministers have been extraordinary. They have distributed essential aid, and we will follow suit," said the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora) Erick Thohir, as quoted from the official Kemenpora website on Thursday.

This solidarity movement is realized through the "Beyond the Game" campaign, which invites athletes, sports communities, stakeholders, and the wider community to work together to help others.

Through this collaboration, ISS acts as a fundraiser to expand the reach of donations and ensure that all aid is distributed to the right targets.

The funds raised will be used for urgent needs such as providing ready-to-eat food, emergency tents, blankets, medicines, and recovery support for affected families.
