The 1702/Jayawijaya Military District Command, Papua Mountains, is assisting flood victims in Pobiatma Village, Asotipo District, Jayawijaya Regency.Dandim 1702/Jayawijaya Lieutenant Colonel Inf Ilham Datu Ramang, inspected the location affected by floods and landslides in Pobiatma Village, Asotipo District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains.
Ramang, in a statement in Wamena, Tuesday, said that the inspection activity was carried out as a form of concern and a quick response from the 1702/Jayawijaya Military District Command to the natural disaster that befell the community.
"Upon arrival at the location, our group immediately inspected the landslide sites and residential areas affected by the flooding and sought solutions that the TNI could use to quickly address the needs of the communities affected by the flooding and landslides," he said
He was accompanied by Danramil 1702-01/Wamena, Major Inf Gatot, along with Danunit Intel Lettu Cku Stevanus Tisel.
Ramang expressed his concern and condolences for the disaster that befell the community in Pobiatma Village, Asotipo District, Jayawijaya Regency.
"The landslide report will be immediately forwarded to the Jayawijaya Regency Government (Pemkab) for follow-up. The 1702/Jayawijaya Military District Command (Kodim) sent emergency aid yesterday afternoon (Monday)," he said.
He explained that the program to build bathrooms, washrooms and toilets (MCK) that was to be built in another village would be diverted to Pobiatma Village to replace the residents' facilities that were buried by the landslide.
"The flood and landslide occurred on Sunday night (December 7, 2025) at around 8:00 PM WIT, burying nine homes. The disaster was triggered by heavy rainfall in the area, and the Trans Wamena-Kurima road was temporarily impassable due to mud, soil, and rocks," he said
He added that his presence and that of his staff was expected to provide moral support and ensure that disaster management was carried out optimally.
"We will continue to coordinate with local governments and relevant agencies to accelerate recovery and help affected communities return to normal activities," he said.
Meanwhile, the Youth Leader of Pobiatma Village, Amos Asso, expressed his gratitude for Ramang's presence in seeing the condition of the residents directly.
"Due to heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides occurred on Sunday night, causing several homes and public toilets to be buried by debris. We commend the Dandim for being the first to successfully navigate the landslide path to reach their village," he said.
