Indonesia's top women's volleyball player, Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, has chosen to remain realistic in facing the women's volleyball competition at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
He revealed that the power map in Southeast Asia still places the host as the most difficult team to beat.
"Thailand is the best in Southeast Asia. It's an honor to play against them. Honestly, we're still a long way off when it comes to gold. Second or third place would be great, but we'll see what the final result is," Megawati said in Bangkok on Tuesday.
Thailand is indeed a giant in Southeast Asia's biggest sporting event. Since 1977, Thailand has won 16 gold medals in women's volleyball, including 14 consecutive wins from 1989 to 2023
Indonesia last won gold in 1983 in Singapore after a 3-2 win over the Philippines.
