BPJS Watch Advocacy Coordinator Timboel Siregar called the initiative of technology company PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk to cover BPJS Employment and BPJS Health contributions for its best online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver partners as a progressive breakthrough in the industry that is worthy of emulation.
"If it's covered by BPJS, that's an important breakthrough by Gojek. Even though they don't have an employment relationship, the company is willing to register and pay. This is something all applicators must follow," Timboel said in a statement received on Thursday.
Timboel stated that the GoTo initiative is a step forward in the industry and should be emulated by other players. Although the company and its ojol (motorcycle taxi) partners don't have a formal working relationship, the company is strongly committed to protecting and improving the well-being of its partners.
