OVO blocks more than 7,000 accounts used for online gambling

Digital payment platform PT Visionet Internasional (OVO) is committed to eradicating online gambling (judol) practices by blocking more than 7,000 accounts through the Joint Movement to Reveal Online Gambling (Gebuk Judol).

The program will be held twice, namely in February-March 2025 and July-August 2025.

"The results are quite good, but I'm sure there's still a lot of homework we can continue to pursue to eradicate gambling in Indonesia," said OVO Chief Operating Officer Eddie Martono in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said that the program, which was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), and the community, also succeeded in reducing online gambling transaction activities by up to 97 percent.

He said that the validity of public reports regarding accounts suspected of online gambling reached 91 percent, meaning that 9 out of 10 reports received were proven true and were immediately followed up.

Not only is the party intensifying efforts to eradicate these illegal activities, it is also expanding the implementation of financial literacy programs.

Eddie stated that financial inclusion without adequate literacy poses a risk of misuse. To mitigate this risk, his team has launched the Fintech Academy, which has reached over 5,000 students at various universities through public lectures and internship programs.
