President Erdoğan: We seek to ensure the success of the peace process between Ukraine and Russia, and the Istanbul negotiations provide a diplomatic platform.This came in a telephone call between the Turkish President and his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidency's Communications Department. The statement indicated that the Turkish and Finnish presidents discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues.

During the call, Erdogan stressed that his country is striving to increase the volume of bilateral trade with Finland, and aims to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Erdogan stressed that "Türkiye is closely monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, and that lasting peace in the region is possible with the two-state solution."

The Turkish president added that "Finland's recognition of the State of Palestine would be a welcome thing."

Erdogan congratulated President Stubb on Finland’s Independence Day, which falls on December 6.
