Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany stressed his full focus on his team ahead of the DFB Pokal match against Union Berlin, following reports linking him as Pep Guardiola's successor as Manchester City coach.
The issue developed after former Bayern president Uli Hoeness said Pep Guardiola had told Kompany that he would be his successor at City.
"I've often said that I'm not here to comment on Uli Hoeness's statements. I have the utmost respect for him. But in football, I can't think too far ahead. My focus is on Bayern and what we can achieve now," Kompany said, as quoted by ESPN .
Kompany added that he wasn't paying attention to other clubs and was solely focused on his current job. He considered the transfer rumors irrelevant to Bayern's agenda, which is currently pursuing maximum results in all competitions.
