The 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, will feature the theme of "We Are One, Connected by the Sea" and the unity of ASEAN nations bound by the ocean
In the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Tuesday night, the maritime concept representing waters as a link between ASEAN countries was displayed through a series of water and light-based visuals.
Thailand, as the country that has hosted the SEA Games most frequently, namely seven times, is emphasizing an environmentally friendly concept in this year's event through the "Green SEA Games" idea.
This concept is expected to become a new standard in the implementation of sporting events in the region.
Thousands of drones kicked off the ceremony by forming various thematic illustrations in the sky of Rajamangala Stadium.
Afterwards, a moment of silence was observed to commemorate Queen Sirikit, who passed away on October 24, 2025, and is known for her significant contributions to the development of sports in Thailand.
The uniqueness of the ceremony was further enhanced when a large pool appeared in the middle of the stadium field.
