Southeast Asia's fastest marathon runner is ready to carry the flag

Indonesian marathon athlete Robi Syianturi, the fastest runner in Southeast Asia, stated that he is ready to carry out the duties of flag bearer for the Indonesian contingent in the parade of the opening ceremony of the 2025 SEA Games at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Tuesday.

"Certainly, I'm grateful and ready. I hope I can carry out my duties well tonight," said Robi ahead of the Indonesian team's preparations for the opening ceremony of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

Robi confirmed that his preparations for the Southeast Asian Games were going smoothly. He emphasized that he had encountered no significant obstacles leading up to the competition. "Preparations are going smoothly, there are no obstacles," he said.

Robi was proud but also nervous because it was the first time he had been trusted to be the Indonesian flag bearer.

"I'm nervous, proud, and grateful. And I hope I can carry out my duties well tonight," said Robi.

Robi and other male athletes who took part in the parade will wear traditional Batak Ulos clothing, while female athlete representatives will wear traditional Lampung clothing.

In this edition of the SEA Games, Robi will only compete in two events, namely the marathon and the 10,000 meter run.

He said that scheduling conflicts meant he could not participate in the three numbers as originally planned.
