Telkomsel maintains connectivity quality during the Christmas and New Year holidays
  Telecommunications company Telkomsel has expressed its commitment to maintaining connectivity quality during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

"By strengthening our network and using cutting-edge technology, we are committed to maintaining quality connectivity so that every moment of togetherness can be enjoyed smoothly," said Telkomsel Network Director Indra Mardiatna, as quoted in the company's press release on Friday.

Telkomsel projects that the average traffic of its telecommunications services during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays will increase by 17.9 percent compared to the average service traffic on normal days.

During that period, SMS traffic is projected to increase by 13.2 percent and peak payload is estimated to reach 76.49 petabytes.

According to the company's projections, during that period, video streaming services were the largest contributor to traffic with a volume of 29.7 petabytes, an increase of 28.3 percent compared to normal days.

Social media traffic is estimated to reach 21.8 petabytes, up 38.1 percent, and digital communication services to 11.6 petabytes, up 26.9 percent compared to average traffic on a normal day.

Meanwhile, e-commerce traffic is projected to reach 1.9 petabytes, up 43.9 percent, and online gaming traffic is estimated at 1.9 petabytes, up 23.2 percent compared to the average on a normal day.

To anticipate increased service traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Telkomsel has prepared network infrastructure at 437 busy points, including shopping centers, places of worship, residential areas, homecoming routes, and transportation service facilities such as airports, ports, and stations.

In addition, the company optimizes network functions with the support of artificial intelligence-based Autonomous Network technology that enables automatic detection and handling of disruptions.

Telkomsel has also prepared 38 Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT), tested 4G and 5G networks on more than 18,000 kilometers of homecoming routes, and ensured the availability of more than 5,000 5G BTS in 79 cities and districts.
