The Director of Aquabike and Powerboat of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), Randi Wibawa, said that the AETI Aquabike Indonesian Championship Season 2025 Final Round will determine the national champion title for this season's jet ski racing series.
"The results will determine the national champion for this year, so this (AETI Cup in Belitung) is a very important race," he said in Jakarta, Monday, at a press conference in preparation for the event titled Gempita Belitong, which will be held at the Tanjung Tinggi Geosite, Belitong Unesco Global Geopark, Bangka Belitung, on December 5-7.
Randi explained that preparations for the final round were going smoothly.
A total of 20 jet ski units have been at the location and the committee has prepared a quota of 30 participants, consisting of 18 professional racers who have confirmed their participation, as well as 12 general participants.
He further explained that the event featured three competition categories, namely endurance , circuit , and parallel slalom .
The three categories will compete in six events, namely expert endurance runabout GP1, novice endurance runabout GP2, amateur runabout GP2, circuit runabout GP1, parallel slalom ski GP2, and parallel slalom runabout GP4.
He added that this year's final race will be the first to be held in a marine geopark . Previously, the event was held at the lake geopark on Lake Toba, North Sumatra.
The new location is considered to provide different challenges for participants, both in terms of the character of the waves and the contour of the track, while also being part of an effort to expand the use of geotourism destinations for national-scale water sports activities.
Support for the championship also came from the industrial sector.
