Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman stated that he will take firm action against white label practices in the sports industry which are very detrimental to the domestic market.
According to Maman, the practice of white labeling is just as influential and detrimental to the domestic market as importing used clothes.
"It's not just secondhand clothes, but white-label imported clothes from China are coming in in huge numbers, but without any filtering or restrictions," Maman said after speaking on a panel discussion at the 2025 Indonesia Sports Summit held at the Indonesia Arena .
Maman believes that local products that can already be produced independently are significantly disadvantaged by this practice. He is currently investigating white label practices and will take action soon.
Maman said that synergy is needed to eradicate white label practices .
The Ministry of MSMEs will collaborate with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade, and the Ministry of Industry to address the white label issue .
The practice of white labeling is the practice of importing new, unlabeled clothing that is then relabeled when it enters the domestic market, making it appear as if it were domestically produced.
