The National Police Headquarters has prepared 1,500 personnel to strengthen post-flood disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo stated at the Bhayangkara Field at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Friday that the additional personnel were intended to address the need for human resources (HR) and facilities and infrastructure in the field.
"The Indonesian National Police are preparing again, deploying troops, including other supporting equipment, which we have determined is necessary after conducting a month-long evaluation," he said.
Dedi detailed that of this number, 600 personnel from two Brimob Polri battalions will be placed in Aceh Tamiang and North Aceh, while the remaining 900 are Brimob Nusantara personnel from the Aceh Regional Police, South Sumatra Regional Police, Banten Regional Police, DI Yogyakarta Regional Police, NTB Regional Police, East Kalimantan Regional Police, and South Sulawesi Regional Police.
Meanwhile, the National Police, he continued, has deployed 8,613 personnel to strengthen disaster management.
Of this number, 7,614 personnel came from the Aceh Regional Police, the North Sumatra Regional Police, and the West Sumatra Regional Police, while the remaining 999 personnel were assigned to the National Police Headquarters.
He continued, in addition to the thousands of personnel working in the field, the National Police also deployed health workers, trauma healing teams , and Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) teams.
"To support community recovery, we currently have 43 health workers, 82 trauma healing personnel, and a Disaster Victims Victims (DVI) team working continuously, particularly in North Sumatra, where several bodies are still undergoing DNA identification," he said.
