The Indonesian National Police (Polri) have repatriated nine Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were victims of human trafficking (TPPO) using the modus operandi of online scams and online gambling admins from Cambodia.

The Director of Certain Crimes (Dirtipidter) of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, revealed in a press conference at the Bareskrim Polri Building in Jakarta on Friday evening that the handling of this case began when the National Police Manpower Desk received a report from the victim's parents on December 8, 2025.

In addition to the report, Irhamni said that his party received information from social media about Indonesian citizens being forced to work as online gambling admins or online fraudsters, and experiencing physical violence.

"The victims also made a viral video on social media, posting a plea for help so they could be repatriated to Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, on December 15, 2025, the Indonesian National Police Manpower Desk began an investigation and coordinated with Cambodian Immigration authorities to repatriate the victims to their homeland as soon as possible.

Coordination and investigation revealed nine victims, three women and six men. They came from West Java, Jakarta, North Sumatra, and North Sulawesi.

"When we found them, the nine people had managed to run and save themselves from the locations where they were working," said Irhamni.
