The Indonesian men's national 5s hockey team won a silver medal at the 2025 SEA Games after losing 3-7 to Malaysia in the final at the RTA Hockey Stadium Don Muang on Wednesday.
Malaysia opened a 3-0 lead in the first half. Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook scored their first goal in the seventh minute, followed by Muhammad Abid Sufian Mat Ruslee's goal in the 11th minute, and Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran's goal in the 14th minute.
The neighboring country maintained their dominance in the second half, scoring four goals in response. Akhimullah completed his hat-trick with goals in the 17th and 29th minutes, while Abid scored his second in the 22nd minute. Shafiq Ikhmal Daniel Suzaini then completed Malaysia's scoring spree in the final minute.
Indonesia responded with three goals in the second half. Mochamad Fathur scored Indonesia's first in the 19th minute, and Alfandy Prasetyo scored two goals in quick succession in the 24th minute.
Previously in the semifinal match held on the same day, the Indonesian men's 5s hockey team won 8-3 over Thailand.
In the women's 5S hockey category, the Indonesian women's national hockey team lost 7-2 to Thailand in the semifinals on Wednesday. There was no third-place match in this event, so the women's national team earned the bronze medal.
