The Minister of Home Affairs asked local governments to prepare data on locations for housing development.
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has asked regional governments to immediately prepare accurate data on disaster-affected communities and ensure the readiness of clear and clean permanent housing (huntap) construction sites .

"So, the sooner we prepare the land and ensure it's clear and clean , the faster we can move. Because construction can't be done without it ," Tito said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He conveyed this while attending a virtual discussion meeting on post-disaster housing in the Sumatra region from Wisma Mandiri, Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Jakarta.

What is meant by clear and clean is land that has a clear and safe legal status, is technically feasible for development, does not cause environmental impacts, and remains close to the community's social environment such as markets, logistics access, schools, and places of worship.

The Minister of Home Affairs explained that the government, together with various parties, including the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, is working together to build 2,600 temporary housing units for disaster victims in three affected provinces, namely North Sumatra (Sumut), West Sumatra (Sumbar), and Aceh.

The Huntap is intended for people whose houses were severely damaged or lost due to disasters.

He emphasized that the speed of construction of temporary housing is highly dependent on regional readiness, especially in providing victim data and clear and clean land .
