The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt announced official moves to organize mass flights to Morocco to support and cheer on the Egyptian national team in the round of 16 matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

Mohamed El Shazly, the official spokesperson for the ministry, confirmed in media statements on Tuesday that the ministry is currently working on coordinating the organization of these mass trips, with the aim of providing all means of support for the Pharaohs in their quest to win the precious continental title.

Al-Shazly added that the Egyptian state is keen to provide all forms of support to the national team, noting that the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, will determine his final position on attending the rest of the team’s matches in the tournament this evening.

He stressed that the minister places the national team at the top of his priorities, focusing on facilitating travel and providing encouragement to ensure a strong fan presence that boosts the players' morale.

This announcement comes after the Egyptian national team qualified for the round of 16 as the leader of Group B with 7 points, following its victory over South Africa and its goalless draw with Angola, in a journey free of defeats so far under the leadership of coach Hossam Hassan.

The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 will be held in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, with 24 teams participating, divided into 6 groups.

The most prominent teams that qualified for the round of 16 included Egypt, host Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, Mali and South Africa, amidst fierce competition that witnessed many surprises in the group stage.

Fan support is a crucial factor in the history of the Pharaohs, who hold the record for the most titles 7 times. In previous editions, such as 2021 in Cameroon, similar government efforts to organize direct flights for fans contributed to boosting performance and morale.

The current move comes in the context of the state’s keenness to promote national and sporting spirit, especially with the public’s anticipation of the announcement of the national team’s opponent in the round of 16, which will be determined based on the best third-placed teams from the other groups.
