I.League Operations Director Asep Saputra admitted that his team could not determine who the referee would be for the big match between Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta, which will be played on January 11 next year.
Asep revealed that the referee who leads a match is 100 percent the responsibility of the PSSI Referee Committee, which is currently led by Yoshimi Ogawa.
"That is truly 100 percent the authority of the Referee Committee," said Asep in a press conference "PSSI Full-time Referee for I.League" at the I.League Office in Menara Mandiri II, Jakarta, Monday.
Meanwhile, this was answered by the I.League after they welcomed a new foreign referee, following Japanese referee Yudai Yamamoto who was contracted full-time for the first time by PSSI.
Yamamoto will officiate matches in I.League competitions, primarily the 2025/2026 BRI Super League, which is now in its 14th week. He will begin work in Indonesia in January of next year, under a 1.5-season contract.
