XLSmart has completed comprehensive preparations for its integrated network following the merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren, to address the potential for a significant surge in traffic during the 2026 Christmas and New Year holidays.
This preparedness includes increasing capacity, optimization, and placing standby teams in strategic locations predicted to become centers of community movement.
"Seeing the enthusiasm and great interest of the Indonesian people in celebrating Christmas and New Year, we ensure that the XLSmart network is fully prepared," said XLSMART Director & Chief Technology Officer, Shurish Subbramaniam in his statement.
XLSmart predicts that there will be an increase in traffic during the 2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period of around 20 percent to 30 percent compared to the average during normal conditions or weekdays
This surge is predicted to be due to the public's enthusiasm for going on vacation, or traveling home for Christmas and New Year, as well as the increased use of large-capacity digital services such as streaming , gaming, sharing moments through social media channels, and digital maps.
"Preparations not only include customer service that will remain operational 24 hours during the holiday period, but XLSmart is also preparing a network with a greater capacity than usual, to ensure convenience for customers even though there is a significant surge in traffic," said Shurish.
