Nutritionist Dr. Margarita Koroleva stated that tomatoes are among the most beneficial vegetables, as they contain essential micronutrients such as phosphorus and calcium.

The doctor explained that tomatoes are rich in lycopene , which slows down the hardening of the arteries and protects cells from damage, thus reducing the risk of cancer.

She pointed out that although the nutritional value of greenhouse-grown winter vegetables is lower, it is not advisable to completely eliminate them . For example, neglecting to eat tomatoes leads to a deficiency in lycopene, a carotenoid pigment that gives tomatoes their red color, helps reduce oxidative stress , protects the body from infections, boosts immunity, and improves men's health.

She added that tomatoes contain micronutrients such as phosphorus, sodium, calcium, and potassium , which positively affect most bodily functions.

She explained that red cabbage and bell peppers can be substitutes for tomatoes in winter, and that nutritional supplements can also be used to compensate for vitamin and mineral deficiencies. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle, walking outdoors, and reducing stress levels .

It is worth noting that previous studies have shown that eating canned tomatoes reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer, helps repair muscle tissue, and lowers inflammation markers in the blood. They also contain a higher percentage of lycopene compared to fresh tomatoes.
