A recent scientific study has revealed a simple method that helps us improve concentration and restore brain activity.
A simple way to improve focus and stimulate the brain
The study, whose results were published in the scientific journal (IJP), showed that practicing "mindfulness meditation" enhances our ability to concentrate and pay attention, and that people who practice this type of meditation have a significant decrease in the activity of "alpha" brain waves, which are usually associated with states of brain inactivity and inability to concentrate.
Mindfulness meditation is a type of meditation that focuses on cultivating awareness of the present moment. This is achieved by paying attention to the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations occurring at the moment, without attempting to change or manipulate them. Instead, they are accepted as they are and observed calmly. This type of meditation is considered a powerful tool for reducing stress, improving focus, and achieving emotional stability.
Discovery of the "key to rearranging memories" in the brain!
To examine the brain effect of this practice, researchers conducted an experiment involving 42 students who practiced meditation for 15 minutes a day over six weeks. Brain wave mapping results showed a clear decrease in the alpha wave pattern in the frontal and posterior regions of the brain, which are responsible for attention and emotional control.
What is striking, according to the researchers, is that this change in brain activity was not accompanied by any change in the level of "cutaneous conduction," a measure of the body's physiological arousal, which confirms that the primary effect was on concentration, not physical relaxation.
The researchers concluded that meditation acts as an effective exercise for training the brain to pay attention, as a decrease in alpha wave activity indicates that the brain has moved from a state of "inactivity" to a state of "active focus," and this process becomes more efficient with regular practice.
