The Indonesian Game Association (AGI) said the Indonesian Game Rating System (IGRS) protection mechanism could be optimized to prevent the circulation of games containing radicalism.AGI Chairman Shafiq Husein assessed that the existence of IGRS is the main key in maintaining a safe and healthy national gaming ecosystem , following a report by the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid regarding the recent discovery of extreme content in digital games.
"Indonesia already has the IGRS, the Indonesian Game Rating System . Hopefully, this can act as a gateway to prevent this type of content from being infiltrated by harmful elements," Shafiq said when contacted.
IGRS is designed as a "front gate" that filters content before it is accessible to the general public. This system is expected to prevent the entry of negative elements, including radicalism, from the initial stages of game distribution .
This statement serves as a crucial emphasis amid public concerns about the potential misuse of gaming platforms as a medium for spreading extremist ideologies. AGI believes strengthening and optimizing the rating system needs to be a primary focus.
