Apple has introduced several improvements to the latest version of its AirTag product, including a longer Bluetooth range, a louder speaker, and better precision tracking capabilities.According to a TechCrunch release on Monday (26/1), the precision tracking feature is supported by Apple's second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which is also used in the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Series 11, and Apple Watch Ultra 3 devices.
With its precision search feature, the latest AirTag is able to provide vibration, visual, and sound feedback to guide users to find lost items.
Apple claims the latest precision tracking capabilities are up to 50 percent further than the previous generation.
Bluetooth chip improvements also help extend the tracking range of devices.
With this update, the precision tracking feature is also accessible on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later.
The speaker on the latest version of AirTag is also claimed to be 50 percent louder, so the tag's sound can be heard up to twice as far away as before.
AirTag devices will be integrated with the Share Item Location feature in iOS, which allows users to temporarily share the AirTag's location with third parties.
Currently, about 50 airlines have partnered with Apple to support baggage tracking using the feature.
Despite the enhanced capabilities, the price of AirTag remains unchanged, remaining at US$29 (around Rp. 485.4 thousand) per unit and US$99 (around Rp. 1.6 million) per pack of four units, including a free personalized engraving option.
