Meta plans to test a new subscription service scheme that will give users access to exclusive features on its applications, including Instagram (IG), Facebook (FB), and WhatsApp.
As quoted in a TechCrunch report on Monday (26/1), Meta said the paid service will include productivity and creativity support features as well as broader artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
In the coming months, Meta will introduce a premium experience that gives users more control over sharing and interacting while keeping the app's core features free to use.
Meta will test different feature models and subscription plans, and says each app will have a different set of exclusive features.
The company also plans to increase the use of Manus, an AI agent recently acquired by the company with a transaction value of up to US$2 billion (Rp33.4 trillion) as part of the subscription service scheme strategy.
The company will integrate Manus into its Meta product while continuing to offer a dedicated subscription service for businesses.
Meta appears to be working on adding a shortcut to Manus AI on Instagram according to screenshots shared by researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, who often discovers unreleased features while they are still in development.
