President Director of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk Imam Teguh Saptono emphasized that his company has made a significant contribution to the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) as the controlling shareholder, including a return of Rp1 trillion from BPKH investments by the end of 2025.
"Cumulatively, since investing in Bank Muamalat, we have made significant contributions to the BPKH. The benefits cannot be measured solely financially," said Imam Teguh Saptono, President Director of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk, during a gathering with media personnel in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said the amount of contribution given to BPKH as the majority shareholder is equivalent to the amount of BPKH's tier-1 capital in the bank, which is recorded at IDR 1 trillion.
Imam emphasized that BPKH had reached the break-even point within 3-4 years, not including the BPKH sukuk held by the bank.
"For non-financial purposes, during the three years that BPKH has owned this bank, we have deposited 210,000 rupiah for Hajj pilgrimage payments through Bank Muamalat. So, we have provided a yield close to BPKH's investment," he said.
Imam stated that his office will continue to collaborate with the BPKH through a number of strategic partnerships, particularly within the Hajj ecosystem, including the launch of the Indonesian Hajj Card, which can be widely used in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, access to Hajj registration through mobile banking, the Hajj Bank feature, and other collaborations are also available.
As a bank that has long been considered the first sharia bank and the starting point for the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia, Bank Muamalat has experienced a transformation in ownership.
On November 15 and 16, 2021, BPKH became the controlling shareholder (PSP) after receiving a share grant from IsDB and SEDCO Group.
The bank's shareholder composition is recorded as including BPKH at 82.66 percent, IsDB at 2.04 percent, and other shareholders at 15.3 percent.
