Persebaya Surabaya coach Bernardo Tavares said he is ready to maximize Malik Risaldi's potential in the remaining 2025/2026 BRI Super League competition.
Quoted from the official I.League website, Friday, Tavares assessed Malik Risaldi as a quality local player who is very much needed by Persebaya Surabaya.
Tavares explained that in addition to the qualities possessed by the former Madura United player, Malik Risaldi can be placed in various positions in the front line.
"It's not easy to bring in local players in this transfer window, as they are already under contract. However, Malik can play as a winger or as a striker. Everyone must be ready; that's our target," said Tavares.
So far, Malik Risaldi has appeared in 18 matches with Persebaya Surabaya and has contributed one goal and two assists in the Super League event.
The former PSM Makassar coach continued by saying that he was reluctant to give a place to all the players in the first eleven for free.
Tavares emphasized that all players, including Malik Risaldi, must work hard and compete for a place in the starting eleven.
"Whoever plays in this position must be ready and adapt to the characteristics of the player who plays there," Tavares said.
Regarding the possibility of Persebaya Surabaya bringing in new players in the mid-season transfer window, Tavares was reluctant to say much, saying all possibilities are still open.
"I think the transfer window will close on February 6. So anything is possible, let's see what happens," he said.
