Persik Kediri coach Marcos Reina said his team is improving its defense ahead of facing Bali United in the 19th week of the BRI Super League at Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri, Friday (30/1).
Quoted from the official I.League website, Friday, Reina said that Persik Kediri's defense line needed to be seriously improved because in the previous match they were destroyed 0-4 by Malut United.
"The defeat to Malut United was very painful. However, there are two lessons we can take from that match. We were playing quite well before the red card. However, the downside is that we conceded easy goals," said Reina.
The Spanish coach explained that Persik Kediri is certainly better prepared to face Bali United, especially since the newly brought in players are getting fitter.
Reina said two of the new players brought in, Jon Toral and Adrian Luna, are now in better condition than in the previous match.
With the two players' condition starting to improve, Marcos said he was pleased, as he had plenty of options to choose from when he hosted Bali United.
"The defeat to Malut United was very painful. However, there are two lessons we can take from that match. We were playing quite well before the red card. However, the downside is that we conceded easy goals," said Reina.
"Given their current condition, the chances of them playing are very high. Their fitness is better, although not yet 100 percent. They will be better next week," he said.
Persik Kediri desperately needs a win against Bali United as the White Tigers have failed to secure a full point in their last three matches, having suffered two defeats and a draw.
