He noted that excavation work at a number of sites resulted in the discovery of about 255 statues in the San El-Hagar area.

Shaker explained, in a telephone interview via the “Sada El Balad” satellite channel, that the archaeological mission succeeded in uncovering the remains of the valley temple belonging to the solar system of King “Nyuserre”, as part of the ongoing excavation work in the Abu Ghurab archaeological area in the Abu Sir region.

Shaker noted that this temple represents one of only two known sun temples in ancient Egypt.

The significance of the discovery lies in the fact that the mission found, for the first time, more than half of the temple's area, which is an unprecedented scientific addition that contributes to a deeper understanding of the architectural planning and the unique nature of the solar temples.

The chief archaeologist noted that the discoveries also included a huge statue, more than 10 meters long and weighing about 60 tons, which had remained buried under the sand for more than 3,000 years.
