Hani Zahran, the lawyer for player Ramadan Sobhi, confirmed that there is still hope of lifting the suspension imposed on his client due to doping, despite the difficulty of accepting appeals before the Swiss Federal Court.
Pyramids FC player Ramadan Sobhi faces a four-year suspension for tampering with his doping sample, as ruled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Zahran said in statements to the “Al-Mehwar Stadium” program on Al-Mehwar channel: “I have no details about the case being discussed in Egypt. I represent Ramadan Sobhi before the Federal Court.”
He continued: "We appealed and paid the fees in court, and the federal court accepted the appeal. There is hope in the Ramadan Sobhi doping case if the federal court approves our request. Until the case is decided, Ramadan will have the right to return to play again."
He concluded: "We have submitted an appeal and challenge in the case of Ramadan Sobhi's suspension due to the doping case. We are challenging the CAS decision that caused his suspension, and we hope that our request will be approved, noting that if the International Federal Court accepts the appeal, Ramadan Sobhi will have the right to return to the fields again."
The Court of Appeal had considered the appeal submitted by Ramadan Sobhi against the previous ruling sentencing him to one year in prison with labor, in the case in which he was accused of involvement in forging an official document inside one of the tourism and hotel institutes in the Abu Nimras area, after considering the appeal submitted against the first-instance ruling, and concluded by confirming the conviction while suspending the execution of the penalty.
