The match between Neomand Al-Ahli witnessed an exciting act by Neom club during the match that brought the two teams together at the “Tabuk” stadium as part of the eighteenth round of the Roshan Professional League competition.
Al-Ahli continued their pursuit of league leaders Al-Hilal after achieving a resounding 3-0 victory over Neom, with the team surging forward in the second half, scoring three goals in just 12 minutes.
Neom interrupted Al-Ahli’s celebrations during the match between the two teams after the end of the match, which was held on the latter’s home ground, as they turned off the lights in the stadium after the match and then turned them back on after Al-Ahli’s players left.
A number of sports critics and media figures expressed their outrage following the actions taken by officials at King Khalid Sports City Stadium in Tabuk during the hosting of the Al-Ahli vs. Neom match.
Sports journalist Waleed Al-Faraj criticized what happened after the match, saying in televised statements: "What happened after the Al-Ahli and Neom match, turning off the lights in the stadium, is completely unacceptable, even if we assume it was a misunderstanding. This is a strange act. Some of the organizers may have wanted the fans to leave quickly, but what is the problem with leaving the lights on for an additional ten minutes so that the players can celebrate with their fans? Will the electricity bill make a difference?"
It is worth noting that Al-Ahli occupies second place in the league standings with 40 points, while Neom's points remain frozen at 21, placing them in tenth position.
