Fauzi aims for third consecutive gold medal at the ASEAN Para Games in Thailand
Indonesian para-athletic throwing athlete Fauzi Purwolaksono is targeting the 2025 ASEAN Para Games Thailand, on January 20-26, with the determination to maintain his tradition of winning gold or a third consecutive time, after winning it in the previous two editions.

He explained that after achieving success in Cambodia and Indonesia or Solo City, Thailand is the next target to bring a gold medal for Indonesia.

"In Solo, I won gold for the javelin and shot put F57 classification, then silver for the discus, while in the Cambodian edition, I won gold for the discus throw F57," he said after training at the Indonesian Paralympic Training Center (PPPI), Delingan, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Monday.

He explained that this achievement was an additional motivation for him to perform optimally again in the Land of the White Elephant, even though the competition would be increasingly tight.

He will return to compete in three events, namely javelin, discus, and men's F57 shot put.

Of the three numbers, javelin throw is the mainstay and the number that people want to win again.

Fauzi said Vietnam was the strongest competitor in the javelin throw, while Thailand was considered a tough opponent in the shot put.

In facing this competition, Fauzi emphasized the importance of maintaining physical condition and mental readiness.

He chose to be careful in every stage of preparation, to avoid injury and remain in top form when competing.

Technically, Fauzi consistently trains in the morning and evening, focusing on honing his throwing technique and sharpening a number of his mainstay techniques.

Therefore, with these preparations, he hopes to be able to raise the Red and White flag again and continue Indonesia's javelin gold tradition at the ASEAN Para Games.

"I definitely want to break both my own and the world record," said the sixth-placed javelin thrower at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
