Fletcher appoints Jonny Evans as his assistant at Manchester United
Manchester United (MU) interim manager Darren Fletcher has appointed Jonathan "Jonny" Evans, the former center back for the club nicknamed the Red Devils, as his assistant while managing the team.

"He (Evans-ed) is someone who has a good relationship with the club. He's also just started playing here, knows the players and all the team members, and is comfortable in the environment here," said Fletcher, as quoted from the MU website on Wednesday.

Jonny Evans is certainly no stranger to Manchester United. A center-back, he graduated from the club's academy and was a member of the senior team from 2006 to 2015.

After that, the man from Northern Ireland moved to other English teams, namely West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City before returning to MU in 2023-2025.

In total, he played 241 times for Manchester United, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. Evans helped Manchester United win three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

After his contract with Manchester United was not renewed in 2025, Evans decided to retire and after that served as the club's youth loan and development department.
