PB Pertacami prepares athletes to qualify for the 2026 Asian Games
Executive Board of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (PB Pertacami) is preparing a number of athletes to qualify for the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games in September.

Currently, PB Pertacami will send a total of 11 athletes who will take part in the 2026 Asian Games Qualification through the 3rd AMMA Championship 2026 event held in Luzhou, China.

"After passing the trial at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, which took place in December 2025, the upcoming 2026 Asian Games will be an important multi-event stage in relation to the journey of the MMA sport towards IOC recognition," said PB Pertacami Chairman Tommy Paulus Hermawan in an official statement, Wednesday.

"We're bringing athletes with strong track records at world championships. We're optimistic we can bring home the best results and bring honor to Indonesia," added Tommy, who is also the President of GAMMA.

To prepare for a series of multi-event events, PB Pertacami has been conducting a national training camp (pelatnas) at the Faculty of Sports Science, Jakarta State University, Jakarta, since early 2025.

The training is to prepare athletes while implementing a program with a sports science approach so that technical development, a measurable and integrated sports science approach , including technical development, improving physical condition and endurance, and competition strategies can be properly analyzed by the coaching team.

In addition, to ensure athletes are in peak condition ahead of the competition, PB Pertacami has also formed a team of nutritionists to monitor nutritional needs, stamina, and achieve ideal body weight according to the regulations for each competition. Each athlete's nutritional intake is tailored individually to achieve optimal performance.

Tommy hopes that in the 2026 Asian Games qualification, athletes can perform optimally by securing as many qualifying tickets as possible.

"We have high hopes and full confidence that the athletes are ready to compete and qualify. PB Pertacami's confidence is also strengthened by their impressive performance at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, where Indonesia sent six MMA athletes, all of whom won medals. This achievement marked a 100 percent success rate, with one gold medal, four silver medals, and one bronze medal," said Tommy.

Later, the 11 athletes who will be sent will be divided into two categories, namely traditional MMA and modern MMA.
